  • from Platform Network:
Coming in November,Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style has nine of the clan's members - including Raekwon, Ghostface, the RZA, Method Man, and you guessed it, Big Baby Jesus, a.k.a. Osiris, a.k.a. Ol' Dirty Bastard himself - throwing down in typical Wu fashion.
This time, however, their verbal assaults turn into an all out martial arts street fight against the evil forces of a corrupt master responsible for kidnapping the Wu's sensei, Xin.
Using the enhanced game engine of Thrill Kill-- a game once destined for the PlayStation's A-list status, but was later scrapped due to corporate politics - Wu Tang: Shaolin Style allows up to four players to simultaneously join in on the head choppin' festivities. Ten different backgrounds set the stage for the battle, from the streets of Staten Island to an authentic Shaolin temple in China.
You also have the option of selecting from three battle modes, including Practice, Single Match Versus, and the classic Kung Fu-movie style, Story mode. Each of the members' fighting techniques is unique as well as their weaponry - varying from Tiger-style death grips to five foot-long double-edged swords. There's even specially created encoding, which allows the player(s) to discover new weapons and possibly even additional characters!
Because this is a Wu-tang Clan project, you know the beats are gonna be slamming! Expect to hear samples from the Wu-library while delivering roundhouse kicks and lethal body blows.
Not enough? The release of the video game will include a separate three-track CD of new material from the Wu-Tang clan, which will not be available anywhere else. Check it: http://www4.activision.com/games/wutang/

  • from Sonicnet:
Rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard is in a drug rehab center in Carmel, N.Y., following two arrests in less than five months in which he was allegedly found with crack cocaine.
According to a spokesperson at the Queens, N.Y., district attorney's office, ODB's lawyer told a Queens Criminal Court judge during a hearing Friday (Aug. 13) that the 30-year-old Wu-Tang Clan MC is undergoing treatment at a rehab facility in Putnam County.
ODB (born Russell T. Jones) was excused from the hearing, in which he was scheduled to be arraigned on drug and illegal-driving charges stemming from his arrest in late July. Police allege ODB had 20 bags of crack cocaine and one glassine envelope of marijuana in his pants pockets. He is due back in court on the charges Sept. 9.
Also, Brooklyn, N.Y., police arrested the rapper in March for alleged cocaine possession after pulling him over for a traffic violation. In both cases, ODB is accused of driving without a license.
Contacted Friday afternoon, ODB's New York lawyer, Peter Frankel, would not confirm his client is in rehab and refused to comment on ODB's condition. "He's committed to fulfilling all of his obligations," Frankel said. ODB had not been ordered by the courts to undergo drug rehabilitation, Frankel said.
ODB has admitted to problems with alcohol in the past, though friends of the rapper have painted him as a health-conscious vegetarian who drinks on occasion.
"I'm glad he's seeking treatment and taking control over his life," said his friend Cathy Jones, president of Threat Records, a Los Angeles label whose artists include Wu-Tang affiliates Sunz of Man. Jones, who has worked with ODB on projects in the past, would not say whether she knows if ODB has used drugs.
"If [the rehab] works for him, I think it will be a great thing for him, and I'm very confident that he'll come through this," she said. "He's very determined - whatever he puts his mind on, he does it. People should understand that while he's a zany artist, he's also a very sensitive guy and very sweet and good-hearted and means well. This is a step in the right direction for him."
On Thursday, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge issued a bench warrant for ODB's arrest after the rapper failed to appear in court that morning on charges he illegally wore a bulletproof vest in February. The rapper is believed to be the first person charged under a new state law that forbids convicted violent felons from wearing body armor. The law applies to ODB because he was convicted of assaulting a man in a bar in 1993 in Richmond, N.Y.
The warrant stands regardless of whether ODB's attorneys submit documentation that their client is in rehab, according to a court clerk Cathy Miers of the Los Angeles Superior Court. "Nothing's going to happen until he surrenders or is picked up [by police]," she said. Ol' Dirty Bastard's Los Angeles attorney, Robert Shapiro, could not be reached by press time.
The troubled rapper has been arrested nine times in the last 13 months, beginning with an arrest in Virginia in July 1998 for allegedly shoplifting a pair of $50 tennis shoes.
Another Los Angeles County case, this one alleging he threatened to kill security guards at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, is set to go to trial Sept. 10. ODB has maintained he is innocent of the three felony terrorist-threat charges pending against him. "I'm not no terrorist," he said earlier this year. "I'm just a regular rap artist who loves women, who loves to party, who loves to f---, who loves people not to lie about him." Two sets of charges against ODB have been dropped this year, including attempted-murder charges stemming from a January arrest. New York police charged that ODB had engaged in a shootout with them, but a grand jury chose not to file the charges due to insufficient evidence. Shortly after those charges were dropped, ODB vowed to sue over the incident. Frankel said Friday that a lawsuit is pending and that they have notified the city of the suit.
A terrorist-threat charge alleging ODB threatened to kill a former girlfriend was dropped in April after several hearings. Prosecutors in that case also cited a lack of evidence.
ODB is scheduled to release his second solo album, N***a Please, Sept. 14. Its first single is expected to be "Got Your Money."

  • Xzibit’s next album 'Man Vs. Machine' will be out in January or February of 2000. The executive producer will be none other than Dr. Dre, so it should be dope, and with any luck, he'll get the exposure he deserves.

  • The rumors are true. Mysonne was convicted on August 2nd for robbing two taxi drivers in New York. He will be sentenced on September 7th, and he faces 50 years in prison. The good side to this story is that he may actually get his album, 'Life Teaches & Reality Bites,' out earlier than expected.

  • Some stuff on the upcoming Jayo Felony album. It’s going to be called 'Hotter Than Fish Grease.' The album will feature Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, E-40, Daz, Soopafly, Scarface, E-A-Ski, Method Man, Redman, Battlecat and others. Jayo said the album will be out in September. Why does he have to make another LP ??? His last LP was awful, with any luck, the guests will make this worth paying attention to, I doubt he will.

  • High & Mighty performed at 'Scratch' night at the Scala in King's Cross, London last night. There were hundreds of hungry hip hoppers inside. But no joy for Mighty Mi and Mr. Eon who were boooooed to get off the stage. Their only saving grace was when Eminem and Cage stormed out from the black side curtains with mics in hand. All was mad from then on. There were divisions in the crowd for either Cage or Mr. Mathers. Eminem got pulled from the stage and was landed on by one of his over-enthusiastic bodyguards. He then got onto the huge speakers and his pants fell down. A girl then reached up to yank down his boxers.

  • Ex-No Limit brothers, Kane & Abel has signed a deal with Elektra Records to start their own record label, Most Wanted Records. The signing comes on the heels off the brothers asking for a dismissal on drug charges.
They plan to release their second album 'Rise To Power' on September 21st through their new label and develop artists on the label such as Ghinn, Scandalust, and Boss Player. Music on the new album will be provided by No limit's own Beats By The Pound crew and be on the lookout for the re-release of Kane & Abel's novel Eyes Of A Killer, and a follow-up novel in May.

  • Violator Recording artist Mysonne faces a possible 1 to 2 years in jail after being found guilty for robbing two cab drivers at gunpoint in the Bronx. Even though his lawyer, Scott Brettschneider insisted the district attorney arrested the wrong man, both cab drivers testified and identified Mysonne Linen as the robber. Mysonne's only defense to the charges was that he had no reason to commit the crimes because he was making money writing songs for artists such as Lil' Kim and Ma$e. The 23 year old rapper/ghostwriter appears on the 'Ryde Or Die' Ruff Ryders Compilation and has 2 songs on the upcoming 'Violator: The Album' compilation.

  • Jay-Z and partner Damon Dash debuted their new clothing line, Roc-a-wear. Showcased at the 7th On Sixth exhibition last week, the new line will be available this fall in retail stores. "It was something that I always wanted to do," Jay-Z told MTV. "I mean, I consider myself sort of a trendsetter as far as rap music goes. And I [endorsed] a lot of other people's clothes. So it was time for me to put my own little flair, my own definition, my own little stamp on the clothing myself, Rocawear."

  • Busta Rhymes has been named in a paternity suit in North Carolina. A test was already taken to prove that Busta was the father of Mariah Elizabeth Miskelly, and he has been making child support payments since January. Currently, child support payments are at $1,250 a month but Mariah's mother, Jill Miskelly, wants more. Jill filed suit earlier this month for an unspecified amount. She claims that her daughter is a result of a one night stand her and Busta had in January of 1998.

  • After putting up the $100,000 bail to get out of jail earlier this week, ODB was arrested again in Queens, N.Y. According to Queens police, ODB ran a red light at approximately 2:28am in Queens Village and was then pulled over. He couldn't provide a driver license, so they asked him to step out of the car, searched him, and found 20 bags of crack and a glassine envelope of marijuana. If he is convicted, he could face at least three years in prison and a maximum of 25 years. As of now, he is out on bail and is due back in court on August 13th.

  • According to The New York Post on July 30th they ran a story saying that The Tunnel rape never happened and that the sex was consensual. The media and the politican's ran with the story due to increase pressure to close the crime ridden Tunnel. According to, Alan Flexer, one of the two men's lawyers, the NYC DA's were too quick to charge the two men before a thorough investigation could be conducted. According to the NY Post Washington said, "When something negative happens involving the police, Giuliani is cautious. • According to the New York Times, the mayor of Money Earnin' Mount Vernon, NY, has announced plans to build a Hip-Hop Museum in the city. "I'm 61 years old, and I think like a 61-year-old person," Mayor Ernest D. Davis said. "But I'm smart enough to know that if something out there makes sense, I should do it. And the popular culture of this city, especially among youth, is Hip-Hop. There are people who actually expect to die young and, based on that, they live out their lives. The question is how do we take an art form created out of young people's heads, embrace it and intellectually stimulate young folks in the process?" The museum will be built in an abandoned firehouse and will include help from the city's youth in the restoration. The mayor has already recieved a $300,000 federal grant for the project, and will recieve another $200,000 from city and private funds. Mt. Vernon has been home to artists such as Heavy D, Puff Daddy, Pete Rock and Doug E. Fresh.
