History:
I was born in Atlanta, Ga back in 1978 and have lived here ever since. I come from a very blessed background. . .loving parents, cool older brother, always had food in my mouth, a roof above my head, etc. That background influences how I approach hip-hop culture. To experience it is a privilege, so I treat it with respect. . .

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to taste in music, but my heart is with hip-hop. I came into the culture around 1993 or so. I started out with graf. My name was "Halo", burning my tag on mostly school desks and bathroom stall doors. I only did one mural, but it was mine nonetheless. Soon after, most of my art was confined to a small notepad I kept on hand at all times.

My next conquest was the vocal element, but I was more into spoken word than full-fledged MC'in. I am a poet by nature (my mother is a published writer), so most of my work was inspirational in tone. Although still defining my presence on the mic, my "style" is a mixture of spoken word and conscious lyrics with a touch of fun. I have a laid-back personality and, most of the time, that tends to manifest itself when I rhyme. But the way I come off on a track all depends on who's with me on the joint, the theme, and the beat itself. I'm also an aspiring turntablist. My girlfriend bought me my first tables for my birthday this past year, and I've been mixing ever since. But I still have mad practice to complete. . .

Favorite MCs/Producers:
I'm feeling a lot of artists right now, but some of my favorites amongst them are Kweli & Mos Def (Black Star), Shabaam Sahdeeq, Black Thought, Common, Rah Digga and Wordsworth. Hi-Tek is on my MVP list. . .his skills on the tables and talent for production is beyond measure.

I primarily go by Footnote. My other alias is Niles Gold and all of its derivatives (Niles, Niles Golden, etc.) I've somewhat gravitated away from using my original name of "Halo", but still mention it from time to time.
