The upstate suburb combines with the inner city to form KENEK. Chris Rel of Spring Valley and Omni of Brooklyn 'KENEKted' in the summer of '94 at SUNY at Stony Brook as incoming freshmen, and it's been an inseparable lyrical union ever since.

Chris Rel, a.k.a. Eddie Brock, started his venture into hip hop at the age of 12. Now at the age of 23, Chris has performed at several small venues and at universities such as Stony Brook. Not only is Chris a talented lyricist but he is also a skilled producer. Chris has also done production for several years, most of which can be found on KENEK's first demo. Some of Rel's musical influences include; Del The Funky Homo Sapien(and many other Hieroglyphic members), De La Soul and Ras Kass.

The rap bug bit Omni at the age of 13. Now at 22 years of age he has won several fraternity talent contests such as the Malik's Talent Search and has performed at the Nuyorican Cafe in Manhattan. Omni was also in an MC battle at Stony Brook's version of Indigo Blue, a hip hop and poetry venture. Some of Omni's musical influences include; Common, Black Thought, and Rakim, all of whom are reflected in his music.

Together as the group KENEK, they have won talent contests such as the NAACP talent contest and performed at the Latin American Weekend picnic at Stony Brook. They've also appeared on 90.1FM WUSB in Long Island. Both have their own styles that contrast, yet compliment each other, creating a unique sound. Chris Rel is known for his clever, unorthodox rhyme patterns and insightful metaphors, while Omni is known for his lyrical prowess and laid back delivery that caresses any track.
