So you don't ask later: Eminem: some nice tracks; I still don't like him Now, what's going on with this fool now? Nothin' really...done with school, prolly failed a class, back home, hookin' up with old peeps and ignorin' this damn comp, which wants to spazz the rare occasion I wanna go online these days....aiight, summin' I ain't done in a few of these joints...back to hip-hop (actually, I been stickin' with it for those paying extra close attention) One question for everybody out there...where the beats at? Every beat I'm hearin' nowadays is on the same ol' shit. I ain't blamin' no Swizz or Puffy or nothin' because these fool-ass emcees & producers got minds of their own and can pick their own damn beats and be original. You know how back when even though the around the same percentage of shit sucked, you could still vibe on the sonics while tuning out the verbals. I mean the pop shit used to have a tight bassline and ill instrumental. It's still very possible to do rock shit too: peep Ghost's album. Child's Play is one of the greatest beats ever made, and any who dissagree, revisit it. Multi-layered, melodic, beautiful sonic brilliance. But no, what do we get nowadays? Some weak keyboard or loop, rarely more than 2 layers, over light drums. Hip-hop is just being lazy...and that's actually reflecting the rest of the peeps out there. You know, us. Youth. Lazy as fuck, and you know it. No bitch and moan session, just statin' the blatantly obvious but rarely stated as we covet youth as some pinnacle of existance when it's only the summit in so many ways, and only the peak in the one we never think of. I'm philosophisizin' again, but, fuck it...Imma flow with it... You've heard it before: lost generation, but what's missed in that label is tha fact we are CONTENT with that. Someone calls us on that, we either point at them, blaming the elders of the evils of the day, or raise the middle finger, which is still a gesture of blame at a source of aggrivation. So, where's the blame towards ourselves? Didn't expect that did you? "But we're the young! We need to be taught! We need guidance! We need to be lead." That's shit from male cattle ass and deep down you know it. Since you gained self-awareness you been strivin' to be your own person, but the first thing you do on that path is find a parent replacement. The group/boy-or-girlfriend/teacher/religion/whatever that you place in that role. Or, those that don't find it, wait for it. What are the youth doing today? Sitting around immersed in popular culture themes (regardless of how you oh-so-noble underground headz wanna call it, it's STILL pop culture) awaiting paychecks, weekends, fucking and death. It's a sad state of affairs. "What are we supposed to do?" "What are you doing?" I'm cutting my e-mail in half by adressing these. The former is your thing. Really, it's exactly that. YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING. Quit waiting for leaders, and lead yourself. It's moronic but it's gonna take a leader to actually drive that point home in most, and even then it will be lost again in time. (Oh, it's been taught before. Actually, it's still taught buried in dogma and doublespeak until it's incomprehensable.) The latter is my thing. Am I the proactive cat on the block campaigning and screamin' at people to get involved. Nope, cuz that approach don't work. Am I the laid back cat sitting back preachin' the answers to everything while the message only hits the few that bother to click this way cuz I'm content with that "change one life and it's worth it" retoric?? Naw, cuz that's that laziness I was speakin' on. What I'm doing is both. I'm sittin' back relayin' the few things I do know as I expand my awareness and study the best way to get through to the masses that they aren't a mass in any sense but individuals with individual mindsets and infinite possibilities available, capabilites possessed, all unique unto themselves. Lead them all to lead themselves individually, and not collectively. We are all connected, but this singular experiance we share in this moment allows us to be seperate from the whole. Don't let that discourage you; embrace it and discover what it holds. I'm getting to that point where I'm thinking only I know what I'm getting at so I'll end the esotericism and set you back down on your own astral plane. Explore that terrain some peoples...and I said I was done with that. One last thing, I appreciate all the mail and that, but I realize I've responded to basically none of you. I'll try and remedy that soon, but thanks regardless. Peace out Buddah Mac - DJ Ghost - DJ Heat - MC Hitman - Hugz - Phil - Anthony Pukalo - Evil Pun - Q - Justice |
