Well it's been a long time since I've written an Our Say for Tha-Real. At this point I'm not even to clear on where I stand with the site. As much as I love the idea of supporting "real" Hip-Hop it seems that I'm never left with a free moment. Hopefully in the fall with school I'll be forced to stay home more often. So what have I been getting into? Well, just a bit to much Hip-Hop in my life right now. I'm working on a Saturday night Hip-Hop party in Washington DC. It's been off the wall the last few weeks, but things haven't been ironed out with the management. When they are I'll post some pictures of the party. It's really dope cause we had serious amounts of ladies getting excessively wild to underground Hip-Hop (with a little hint of crap rap). Just wait till you see some pictures. Other than that I've been hearing some great records. First came the DJ Honda and Jeru The Damaja track. I'm sure there's no need but .... I have to say it .... that track is amazing. I first heard the instrumental when I was blazed as shit and right there I knew that Jeru must have ripped the beat to shreds, and that he did. After that I got smacked with the new Jiggmastas 12" it features Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, Shabaam Sadheeq, and others. The Pharoahe Monch verse on it is pure heat. He brings it back to some old Organized Konfusion shit talking about killing JFK. Finally, there's the new Iriscience single with my man The Last Emp. That track can be found in the current New Ish so I'm not even going to speak on it.

I guess all in all it's been a great year for Hip-Hop. Groups like Dilated and Jurassic 5 didn't hit as hard as I expected, but they made their mark, and I still believe that Hip-Hop is going to turn in a better direction. With the rest of the year ahead of us there are still some dope releases to look forward to. Reflection Eternal and De La Soul albums being the ones I'm looking forward to the most. The Big L album has me a bit scared, I haven't liked many of the tracks I've heard, but there are exceptions (the Pete Rock joint). Soundbombing 3 sounds like a waste of time. If the rumors are true then it will destroy everything the last two albums stood for and built.

I guess I'm going to wind it down now. I've gotten my hands on an album from a group called L.A. Symphony, I haven't had the time to listen to it, but I'll try to review it in the weeks to come. In the meantime I'd like to give a special shout out to Hugz and Phil for putting up with me. I'd also like to shout out everyone representing for Washington DC.

peace
