If you haven't heard of All City by now then you can't possibly define yourself as any sort of an underground fan. These emcees aren't too underground but are far away from the main stream audiences hip hop gets, however, this album makes you feel that that is what the group is aiming to satisfy. The group are probably most well known for their affiliation with Onyx and most recently, for their affiliation with DJ Premier (who produces some of the albums material). The album 'Metropolis Gold' is one of those which you have about half of the CD covered with okay cuts, a couple of bad ones and a few brilliant ones. The music from the pre-released single is part of the albums 'brilliant ones,' another track worth taking a good look at is 'Metro Theme.' Other than that the album is really only defined by one word. Average. |
