Belly Soundtrack

Belly. This film sounds dope, all I know though is it stars Nas & DMX with T-Boz and Meth fitting in somewhere along the line plus a not very well known man, I think his name is....Hype Williams ???

Anyway, the soundtrack is pretty phat. The 18 track deep soundtrack features a wide range of people from Lady to Ja Rule. All of which come up to a very good standard, some of the best tracks include 'Grand Finale,' the title cut featuring DMX, Method Man, Nas and Ja Rule singing the hook, plus a little bit of NWA thrown in as the beats. Another one of the best cuts is 'Windpipe' by RZA, ODB and Ghostface. The track is brilliant, I cracked up when I heard ODB sing "Now what party can you go to, And we aint there you bitches acting like you don't care" because his voice really makes him sound drunk on this.

The album also has has some different styles to hip hop, there is some rn'b with some tracks by D'Angelo (the lovely 'Devils Pie') Jerome and Sparkle. Though the best track (non-hip hop) is 'Top Shotter' it features DMX but is essentially a dance hall style cut, it's really phat.

The thing that surprised me was the track 'Story To Tell.' I never really felt anything (so far) by Ja Rule, until I heard this, he comes off really well, much better than anything he's previously done (eg 'Kill 'Em All').

'I Wanna Live' by Braveheart was a surprise. It seems that Nas is in a new group with a couple of other people including a relative of his, a J.Jones (don't know who it is). The track is produced by the Trackmasters and it actually sounds quite.........good !

'Sometimes' by Noreaga featuring Maze is okay but Noreaga seems to be getting more and more commercial with each track he rights, with saying commercial I mean he seems to be making tracks which have little lyrical depth but possibly could attract a mainstream audience.

On the whole, the 'Belly' soundtrack is pretty phat, some of the rn'b cuts aren't too good but still. Check this CD out !
