Tical 2000 : Judgement Day

Well it's the album you've all been waiting for, four long years in the making and finally it is here ! You'll find out how annoyed Meth got with all the bugging around the album by listening to the many skits it has. There's one which allegedly has Russel Simmons on, though I'm not sure whether it is 'Check Writer' in which he shouts about Meth not releasing anything. Ed Lover and Donald Trump also get on some skits to moan or prod the Method Man to release some more sh*t.

I was one of the few (out of the people I know well) who liked the pre-album single 'Judgement Day'/'Dangerous Ground.' Most only enjoyed 'Dangerous Ground' and although he re-used his verse from the collaboration he did with the english group Texas, and added some techno/rave style beats...I liked it. I had high hopes for this album and on the whole my hopes were met well. I am sorry to say (aimed only at Daz fans) that the original rumour that Daz Dillinger would be involved in production was wrong...ah well.

Anyways, the actual album is flooded with guest appearances; from Left Eye to Redman, you not tend to find too many solo efforts here, however, in some aspects this is a good thing. Street Life, a Wu-Tang affiliated emcee puts in a load of appearances, some of which outshining Meth but still this creates awesome tracks which have both emcees rapping at their best. The track in which I remember Street Life the most is probably 'Grid Iron Rap,' I'm not sure whether this is due to his verse or because the beats are so dope that I repeated this track too many times to keep count of.

On the track 'Elements,' you will find two guests which you may not recognize; Polite and Star. Polite is a Wu-Tang affiliate that is always in the shout-outs but we never hear from him, in Polite's case, cause he was on lockdown. Star is the name of one of the members of the Shaolin Soldiers, but the name sounds common enough that I wouldn't stake my life that it's him (big up to my man Buddah M.A.C. for the info.).

Diversity is here. 'Break Ups 2 Make Ups' (a track which I think is great) features D'Angelo and is basically a 'commercial' rn'b cut with a few curses. But I am definately feeling that cut though they could have done out with that woman bitching in the middle of the cut. Another track which stuck out in my mind was 'Sweet Love.' The track features CappaDonna and Street Life and in essence is a track about f***ing. No review of this album would qualify as a review without mentioning 'Retro Godfather.' This cut is one of the albums most original (beat wise) taking some 70's style music and having Meth do his thing over it.

Although I got pretty annoyed when I kept hearing him re-using lines from other raps he's done, this is an album which Meth will be compared to in future. Everybody knows he can rhyme although he didn't have too many tracks which I frequently rotated on his first album; 'Tical.' Very, very good production and the rhymes are amazing. Definate purchase for Wu fans.
