  • The Wu were filming some videos this past weekend. The clan donned furry costumes and rapped along to "Gravel Pit" on a massive, "Flintstones"-style set made of fake rock, bones, and palm trees to shoot one video for three new songs. Along with "Gravel Pit," the Wu is also cramming the street number "Be Careful" and "Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)" into the video, which is expected to clock in at about 10 minutes. Though Saturday's 100-plus temperatures in Los Angeles forced three of the group's scantily clad dancers off the shoot because of heat exhaustion, all of the Wu endured, despite the discomfort their costumes added to the sweltering conditions. "I'm surprised they're not dying on me," director Joseph Kahn (Sisqo, Backstreet Boys) said. "You gotta love it, though. We've got the ghetto Bedrock, and the Wu-Tang are a bunch of pimp 'Flintstone' people, and all of a sudden a kung-fu fight is gonna break out in the middle of it." All of the Wu participated in the four-day shoot, except ODB, who is serving time in a court-ordered drug rehab program. Cappadonna is filling his spot, though Wu's upcoming album, "The W," will include previously recorded rhymes by ODB.

Eminem, rwas flanked by his criminal and civil attorneys at the three-hour-long deposition in Circuit Court. Em's mother was not present, but her attorney Fred Gibson told MTV News that Eminem confirmed that he made not-so-nice comments about her in "Rap Pages," "Rolling Stone," and "The Source" magazines. Gibson alleged that the rapper was "coached" to retract one statement, and that Eminem now claims that when he spoke to publications of his mother's drug use, he meant "prescription" not "illegal" drugs. Gibson also said that Em confirmed making the statement "Every time a relative sues me, I sell more records" at the MTV Video Music Awards. ibson said that Eminem retained his composure throughout the hearing.

  • Eminem, was found at the center of a Senate committee hearing on violence and America's youth. • For the second time in three months, Erick Sermon and Redman will take to the steps of the Capitol building in Hartford, Connecticut, next Wednesday to rally support for the release of Keith Murray. Connecticut state Senator Eric Coleman and Murray's lawyer, Joe Moniz, are also expected to turn out for the event, a follow-up to a similar rally in July that brought out such rappers like Fat Joe, Rockwilder, and Tha Alkaholiks. In 1998, Murray was convicted of a second-degree assault following an altercation with a concert promoter in Connecticut back in 1995. After being sentenced to three years in prison, the rapper failed to turn himself in to authorities and was on the lam for almost a month before surrendering to authorities. Murray's sentence was subsequently upped from three years to five, although the additional two years can be suspended if Murray keeps out of trouble while in prison or following his release on parole. To date, Murray has served 23 months of his term.

  • According to several published reports, Atomic Pop may be closing its doors. They laid-off their entire staff at their Santa Monica, California based office but continue to run the company with "a significantly reduced overhead." Specific reasoning for the layoffs is unknown, but it is assumed that lack of investment funds could likely be the cause. The label received $10 million in funds from an investment group, and expanded it’s website to include streaming radio sites for rock group Smashing Pumpkins, interactive games, and other costly features. Funds started to run after several of their music-related projects didn’t do to well. Public Enemy’s There’s A Music Goin On only sold 36,200 copies online and at the stores and the delayed project from Blood Of Abraham failed to create any type of buzz.
