- The long awaited Live album from the legendary Roots crew, 'The Roots Come
Alive,' hits the stores on November 2nd. It features new studio cuts including
'What You Want' from the film 'The Best Man' and of course live extended
versions of Roots classics like 'Proceed,' 'Silent Treatment,' 'Next
Movement,' 'Esaymuman?!?,' etc.
- ODB showed up to GZA's 'Crash Your Crew' video shoot in early
Sept. unannounced and ON TIME. He wasn't scheduled to be in it but he just
appeared and performed throughout the video with the GZA. However
since Elektra can't get ODB to appear in his own videos, they are preventing
MCA to send out the version of GZA's 'Crash Your Crew' video with ODB. So
when you see the video and hear but don't see ODB.....know its politics and
that ODB was true to the Wu. The video has skateboarders & BMX bikers at a
skatepark crashing all over the place.
- Common is finishing his 4th album.....the title is under wraps......A white label single 'DOOINIT' will hit the streets at the end of October. Word is
Common definitely gets a few things off his chest on this joint. Common's
new album is scheduled to hit the streets in late February.
- Blackstar has been officially signed to MCA Records. Their next album is
tentatively titled 'Blackstar Gallactica' due Spring 2000. This is the first
release through their Goodtree Media label deal.
- MCA says that something big is on the horizon with the Sauce Money project..stay
tuned
- Cappa's site http://www.ironfistpillage.com/ says Movie Release and
Website Launch: 'Halloween '99'...so I guess Cappa has a movie called Iron
Fist Pillage to go along with his new album 'The Ying & The Yang: Pillage 2'

- Sumthing Else Musicworks is in the process of negotiating a deal with Sunz
of Man member Hell Razah according to Sunz manager Reg Reg. Hell Razah and
Sunz teammate Killah Priest are also featured on the Public Enemy
soundtrack cut, "Ghetto Government."
The Bed-Stuy native first emerged with his Sunz of Man squad, this is his
first solo record. The album, Ghetto Gov't, will be released the first
quarter of 2000. The lead single "Like It Or Not" features live
instrumentation and is produced by Dave Burnett and Robert Taylor, who have
worked with The Hitmen.
Other producers on the project are Tru Master, 4th Disciple, and newcomers
Nitro and Mark 5. "We recruited hungry new producers," Reg says. "We went
to the people who were the Trackmasterz before they were the Trackmasterz."
Ghetto Gov't will also feature guest shots from Sunz' Killah Priest and
Prodigal Sunn, as well as Fredro Starr, Beenie Man, and Method Man. Reg
says that they are also working on a track with a far less likely guest,
Foxy Brown. "We are going to try and regain her street credibility." The
Sunz, which also includes 60 Second Assassin, will regroup in the distant
future to release their third record on Red Ant Records. Killah Priest will
release his sophomore solo joint on MCA in early 2000.
- Eminem has just inked a deal with Interscope Records for his
own imprint, Shady Records. Shady fistr project will The Dirty Dozen album,
a compilation that will feature Detroit mic-holders Bizarre, Proof, Von,
Denine and Swift. The album is yet to have a release date. Meanwhile,
Eminem will launch a European tour next month beginning on October 21 in
Amsterdam. He will also be featured on Dr. Dre's upcoming 'Chronic 2001: No
Seeds' album.
- In an interview with MTV News, Snoop Dogg mentioned plans of putting together a tour with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Xzibit, Nate Dogg and Warren G, and billing it as The Chronic 2001 Tour. If all goes according to plan, the tour would take place next year and hit mostly North American cities. Later this month(9/23-9/26), Snoop will join Dre and Eminem in Hawaii for a 3-day event called 'The Concert On Chronic Island'. Other performers are to include The Beatnuts, The WhoRidas, Tash, Kurupt, D.O.C. and MC Lyte.
- The Charlotte Hornets didn't think he was good enough, but the Toronto Raptors think otherwise. Master P has signed an NBA contract with the Toronto Raptors and has been invited to their training camp which begins on October 4th. During his brief camp with the Hornets, P averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists.
- MTV Books are planning to publish a book of poetry written by Tupac Shakur. The Rose That Grew From Concrete will feature Pac's poetry from when he was 19 years old and penned in his own handwriting. The book will be released sometime in November.
- Wu International, a production company started by The Wu-Tang Clan, has just signed on to produce Trife Life a music-based urban drama written by Chuck Wilson. The story is about two cats in Brooklyn who strive to become hip-hop stars and finally make it, but experience a tragic loss. The film will be executive-produced by Wu International and will be funded by an overseas private investor.
- Public Enemy will be hitting the road this fall in support of their critically acclaimed album, There's A Poison Goin On. PE made history this year being the first artist to release their entire album online and in MP3 format. They maybe coming to your town soon so keep your eyes and ears open, here are the current dates:

- Sonicnet is reporting that Jay-Z’s album is now entitled 'The Life and Times of Shawn Cater Vol. 3.' He’s done 16 songs for the album already, but the finished product will only have 12. He will definitely hit his December 28 date.
- The November issue of The Source will feature Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch & Black Thought on the cover.
