Socrates Bio (written by Socrates himself) "Socrates ... where did it come from? Of course one of the greatest philosophers of all time, Socrates, dropped knowledge on almost any subject thinkable. This is exactly the reason this name is suitable to the style potrayed in his lyrics. Instead of just bein' the norm, Socrates puts insight into every verse, down to the stanza, down to the line, down to the word. This is on the real! Everything connects. This is why his lyrics are so cold. Too many Emcees out there, no matter if they're from the west, east, south, or the arctic circle, are just puttin' out what people wanna hear. Socrates can be summed up in a word ... RAW!! You can't get primitive on your audience, but alwayz have to go to the next level. Socrates does just that. In every verse, there're guaranteed "rewind lines." On the real. Emcees like Socrates are hard to find. If you're lookin' for some bootleg style with no complexity, you're on the wrong page, and sampling the wrong musician. With this mad vocab and philosophic style, Socrates found comfort in the Nap, that is, Indianapolis, IN. Not until recently did Socrates compile his talents for the public. Along with his "lyricist charactistic," Socrates adds a production mentality to separate himself from many. Having involved himself with music since age 7, and even more formally since age 12, he applies that knowledge straight to his music. This combination is straight -mean- to say the least. He soon realized he wasn't the only one that dropped a mad complex style. With some encouragement, and his boyz from BUNJEE BLACK RECORDS, he worked on perfecting his style. Now, soon to come, his BUNJEE crew is lacing there newest album and afterwards, featuring Socrates in their upcoming compilation that will be straight raw. You can definitely find what's going on under the upcoming tab of the Socrates web page. Another contact added another perspective to the musical repitoire. DJ Zipper, a hip-hopper with a more eccletic musical intuition, teamed with Socrates and they are steadily makin' moves. Philosophic Productions is born. If ever there is somethin' you wanna add, just mail Socrates and he'd get back with you --- on the real." Socrates has released his LP 'I'm Brandin' independently. It can be purchased by following this link. If you wish to contact Socrates for any reason (a record deal would be nice) email bpaschal@purdue.edu or peep his website at http://listen.to/socrates |
