Real Name: Maxwell Smarts
Age: 16

Biography:
I is for intelligence, which is what Maxwell Smarts (I)s all about. After his debut to the world on his 1996 single, 'Drugged Somalians', he did a large amount of solo songs as well as a few compilations. During this two year period, however, he did not release anything on his label, Infinite Records, which at the time was called B & S Records. This label was run and owned by Smarts. This period of unreleased work was called his "style finding" period.
"I just did mad sh*t all the time. I was the whole label, as an artist, I had to find my style. As a producer, I was finding out new things about music like harmony and digital percussion. But in 98', i started to find more and more heads who was feeling my ish, you know? And plus, I was starting to learn about the business aspects of underground tape sales. After acquiring some more knowledge of rap, I decided it was time."
And this spawned the idea for his debut album, 'Stimulation'. The concept of the idea was that hip hop heads were slowly losing interest from rap because of the lack of thought stimulation in lyrics and rhythmic stimulation through music. Maxwell Smarts decided that this album would 'bring the real heads back to rap' and change rap to what it used to be. "I was like, remember back in 94 when niggas was just loving Nas, and loving the Wu? Remember back in 95 when niggas was loving Raekwon and Common, and the new niggas who came out were nice? What is it now though? I think ever since Pac and Big died niggas didn't know what to do with themselves. I mourned for them, nahmean, but we need to take rap back to peaceful times, nahmsayin? I'm tired of seeing niggas on the mic die like they on the frontlines. We don't need violence now, you know? I''m just...trying to take it back..."
With tracks like Strength Swords, Deep As It Gets, Chef Godriq, and Understanding, Max hopes that heads will understand what he is trying to do for rap. With no tracks involving his trafficing of drugs or use of guns, Max tries to call it as he sees it in the streets and analyze it. "I got some real shit on there. My favorite joints are Deep As it Gets and Handle Him. Deep As It Gets just got some lines on it I think deserve nobel prizes. I came with something like, 'Life is one page too long/Rhymes chop the gut like guillotine gong, four mintues long/ Rap song, icewater puored down the back/ Swordsman attack like a bat fresh out of hell...' It sounded hot on that track, and it was hot in text. I was feeling the whole vibe. As for 'Handle Him', I was just talking about beef with some dudes in the street who tried to play me. I can't have that. Y'all got 2 ask for that later though, cause I didn't master it."
Maxwell also produces for quite a few other young artists under the group name, "The Undisputed". He and his labelmates, Young Blak, Trauma, Nova Star, J-Noble, Johnny Bravo, and countless others hope to do some sort of compilation or album before 2001. Johnny Bravo and Young Blak will drop their albums after Stimulation is released.
"I just want to take it back to when rap was phat, you know?"
